Chocolate Peanut Butter Marshmallow Treats

The weather is getting warm here and although I love to bake sometimes I just don't want to turn on the oven. Inevitably I make cereal treats, they are easy, versatile and delicious. This recipe is a combination of Scotcheroos and Rice Krispie treats and they are delicious. The perfect treat to take to a barbecue or picnic or to just have on hand for hungry kids.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Marshmallow Treats

1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup peanut butter
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
21/2 cups Rice Krispies
1/2 cup mini marshmallows

In a small saucepan, combine the corn syrup an the sugar. Bring to a boil. Cook and stir for 1 minute. Remove from the heat, stir in the peanut butter until melted. Stir in the vanilla. Fold in the cereal, marshmallows, and the chips, stir until blended. Pour into a greased 8" baking pan baking pan. Cool. Then cut into squares and enjoy.

Browned Butter Peanut Butter Cup Rice Krispie Treats with Chocolate Ganache Topping

Is there anything better than a cereal treat? They are hands down some of the easiest and most favorite treat/dessert that I make. Throw in a little browned butter, peanut butter cups and chocolate and you have created a decadent, delicious treat!

Browned Butter Peanut Butter Cup Rice Krispie Treats with Ganache Frosting.

Ingredients:

10 oz bag of marshmallows
1 stick of browned butter
5 cups of Rice Krispie cereal

1 cup of peanut butter melted
1 bag of peanut butter cup mini's

8 oz bag of chocolate chips
1 cup of heavy cream

Directions:

Prepare 8 x8" pan with cooking spray. Melt butter in a small pan over low to medium heat. Once melted watch the butter and stir until the butter foams and turns brown. Be very careful it burns easily.
Add the marshmallows to the browned butter and stir until melted. Add the rice krispie cereal and stir until combined. Then pour and press into the prepared pan. While warm sprinkle the top with the mini-peanut butter cups.
In a small bowl add peanut butter and melt in the microwave, about 30-50 seconds. Pour the peanut butter over the mini-peanut butter cups then set pan aside.
Pour chocolate chips into a bowl and set aside. In a small pan over low heat warm the heavy cream until small bubbles appear around the edges.  Then pour cream over the chocolate chips, wait a few minutes until the cream melts the chips and then whisk until smooth, pour mixture over the cereal treats and smooth out. Then refrigerate for a least 30 minutes, cut and enjoy!

The nutty flavor of the browned butter, the creamy marshmallows and crispy cereal combined with the peanut nut butter and chocolate... Frankly there are no words to tell you how good these are, they are a little like Reese's Peanut Butter Cup and an Outrageous candy bar combined.

Enjoy!

Peanut Butter Pretzel Bars

I love bars, and in fact I am pretty sure that I make note of that each and every time that I post a recipe for them here. Seriously, what it not to love, they are easy, no bake, and you can add or subtract pretty much anything and they always taste delicious!

This bar is your standard Scotcheroo but with a twist, a little salt and a lot more peanut butter in the form or peanut butter cups, or in my case peanut butter pumpkins.

Peanut Butter Pretzel Bars

Bars

1 cup of sugar
1 cup of corn syrup
1 cup of peanut butter
6 cups of krispie rice cereal

Topping:

2 cups of chocolate chips
1 cup of broken pretzels
6-8 snack size peanut butter cups

Prepare an 8 x 8 inch pan with cooking spray. In a medium sauces pan over medium heat combine sugar and syrup and heat until sugar is dissolved. Then remove from heat and stir in peanut butter, once incorporated add the cereal and mix well. Pour into prepared pan and press down evenly. Set aside.

In medium saucepan, over low heat melt the chocolate chips. Once melted, remove from eat and add the pretzels and mix well, then add the peanut butter cups. Pour chocolate mixture over the cereal mixture and smooth out. Cool, cut and enjoy!

These may be my new favorite cereal treat! The blend of the sweet and the salty flavors is a crunchy surprise and it is delicious!

The great things about the topping is that you can add whatever you have, pretzels, graham crackers,  or even more cereal. As for the peanut butter cups, you could add whatever bars you have, Snickers, Twix, Kit Kat all for a little added flavor and crunch!

I know that many people are a fan of cereal treats and Scotcheroo's but tell me what is your favorite thing to add to them?

I hope you enjoy and have a great day!

S'more Cereal Treats

Sunday was the official start of Fall and while I am excited to break out the pumpkin and the spices I thought just one last summer treat would be nice.

Frankly I love cereal treats and could make and eat them weekly. I like that you can combine most any cereal with marshmallow and add chocolate and you have a tasty treat!

S'more Cereal Treats

3 Tablespoons of butter
1 10 oz. package of marshmallows
6 cups of graham cracker cereal

2 cups of chopped chocolate of chocolate chips

Prepare pan with cooking spray and set aside. In a large sauce pan melt butter over low heat , then add marshmallows and stir until the marshmallows are melted. Remove from heat, add the graham cracker cereal and stir well. Pour into pan and press down.

In small sauce pan melt chocolate and then spread over the cereal treats. Cut and enjoy!

Simple and delicious with the essence of your favorite summer s'mores! Gooey marshmallows, crunchy graham cereal and smooth creamy chocolate a match made in heaven.

I hope that you enjoy these and if you have your own version please share it with me.

Toblerone Cereal Treats

Are you a fan of Toblerone?

The scrumptious milk chocolate with honey and almond nougat? I love it and have since I first tried it over 20 years ago.

This week I decided to add it to another favorite dessert, cereal treats. At first I was a little skeptical of the combination, I thought perhaps that the end result would be too sweet but I was wrong. It is perfect!

The recipe could not be any easier.

1 cup of sugar
1 cup of peanut butter
1 cup of light Caro syrup
6 cups of Krispie Rice cereal

1 small bag of Toblerone Minis

In a sauce pan combine Caro syrup and sugar, bring to a boil and add the peanut butter. Stir until smooth and add the Krispie Rice cereal and stir until combines. Pour into 8 x 8 inch pan.

Melt Toblerone chocolate and pour over cereal treats.

Cut and enjoy!

Double Peanut Butter Chocolate Rice Krispie Treats

I love cereal treats, especially Rice Krispie treats, and if they have chocolate and peanut butter than that just makes them all the better. Last week I made a batch and I took them to friends so that I would not eat them all. Then I had a craving for more, so I went to Pinterest for some inspiration and it did not disappoint. This recipe is a little different from the last, but no less tasty, as I had yet another bag of Reese's rabbits in my freezer I used them in place of the peanut butter cups.

Double Peanut Butter Chocolate Rice Krispie Treats
adapted from Picky Palate

Ingredients
5 Cups Rice Krispie cereal
1 cup Special K Cereal
1 large bag mini marshmallows
1/4 Cup butter
1 Cup creamy peanut butter
1 bag of  Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, quartered
1/2 cup milk chocolate melted
1/2 cup dark chocolate melted

Directions

Place Rice Krispies and Special K cereal into a large mixing bowl, set aside. Place marshmallows and butter into a large bowl and microwave until puffed up, about 3 minutes.  Pour marshmallows into cereal, mix to combine then pour into a greased  8 x 8 inch baking dish and press into pan. Melt peanut butter until smooth and creamy, about 30 seconds.  Add chopped peanut butter cups, stir gently then pour over the cereal treats. Drizzle melted chocolate over top and swirl to make a nice pattern. Refrigerate to set, cut into squares and serve.

These are so yummy! I think they may be my new favorite cereal treat! If you try them please let me know that you think. And if you have a favorite cereal treat recipe I would love to hear about it!

Have a great day! I hope you can do better than me and only eat just one and not a half a pan!
